DAY 1

NAIROBI

Arrive in Nairobi, where you will begin and end your safari.

Recently named the world’s best city to visit in 2024 by Lonely Planet, Nairobi is Kenya’s bustling, dynamic, cosmopolitan capital.

Jump right into the enchanting world of elephants with a side serving of CUTE! Spend a day visiting the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, located in Nairobi National Park.

The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust operates the most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world. It offers a wonderful opportunity to get up close to these incredible creatures and to learn more about their conservation and behavior from the keepers who care for them.

DAYS 2-4

SAMBURU

We’ll set off early and journey north until we reach Samburu. Palm groves, riverine forests, dry bushland and a sacred mountain backdrop make Samburu the jewel of Kenya’s expansive northern wilderness.

We’ll make strategic short stops along the way, including a longer stop in Nanyuki for lunch.

Pass through local villages and small towns, catching a glimpse of the daily life of Samburu’s communities.

Samburu National Reserve stretches along the Ewaso Nyiro River, which acts as a magnet for wildlife in search of water, vegetation and prey. It is a haven for elephants as well as lions, cheetahs and leopards. 

It is also home to the Northern Special Five species (Grevy zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and the Beisa oryx). This is a unique group of rare and beautiful animals native to this region of Kenya.

NAIROBI - SAMBURU 6H (ROAD)

Accommodation
We’ll be staying at Elephant Bedroom Camp, which offers a truly unique and authentic safari experience. Situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River you’ll be amazed to see elephants wandering through the camp to get to the water source.

DAYS 4-6

IL NGWESI

Set off after breakfast to Il Ngwesi Eco - Lodge. This community-owned lodge sits on 16,500 hectares of land, home to the Il Lakipiak Maasai – ‘people of wildlife’. Enjoy superb wildlife viewing from the lodge combined with bush drives, sundowners, and a bush breakfast. Il Ngwesi plays a significant role in conserving wildlife in Northern Kenya and is a sanctuary for endangered species such as white rhinos, Grevy’s zebra, and African wild dogs.

Visit a local Maasai Cultural Boma to learn about traditional hunting techniques, beading, and honey collecting. Sleep under starry skies in their famous star beds.

Il Ngwesi is a conservancy where you can step out of your vehicle and take part in a range of walking safaris. This is the best way to connect more intimately with the wildlife and landscape around you.

DAYS 6-8

MOUNT KENYA SAFARI CLUB

After having breakfast, we set off to Mount Kenya Safari Club. This iconic hotel is located north of Nanyuki on the slopes of Mt. Kenya. It offers an elegant country club atmosphere combined with a luxurious, modern flair.

The hotel offers a perfect contrast to the bush experience you just had. It is located in over 100 acres of pristine gardens, trout-filled ponds, and forests that blend seamlessly into the foothills of the majestic Mount Kenya. The hotel is grand yet understated, providing the perfect opportunity to dust off and enjoy some high-end Kenyan hospitality.

Experience the thrill of a horseback safari in the adjacent Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy, or visit the animal orphanage for an opportunity to learn more about the local wildlife and help in the conservation of the critically endangered Mountain Bongo.

DAY 8

OL PEJETA

Travel the short distance to Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Situated on the equator, Ol Pejeta is a vast conservancy and a trailblazer in conservation.

You will get to meet the last two remaining northern white rhinos in the world, perhaps the rarest mammals in existence. Learn about the history of these magnificent creatures, what it takes to protect them, and what Ol Pejeta is doing to try and save this subspecies.

Ol Pejeta has one of the highest predator densities in Kenya with lions being the dominant species in this category, with 6-7 resident prides. You will get to see these large carnivores up close during a lion tracking activity – tracking collared lions using a receiver. The data you collect goes straight to Ol Pejeta’s ecological monitoring unit.

Visit the chimpanzee sanctuary and immerse yourself in the wild on a guided nature walk.
